Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Overview
A few things to note...
- Pronounced as a word WCAG (”wick-cag”) rather than an abbreviation (W-C-A-G)
- The current version is WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 is planned to be released June 2022. WCAG 3 is being developed but will not take over WCAG 2.1 or 2.2 for “at least a few years after it’s finalized”
- There are 3 levels of compliance (A, AA, AAA — from least to most compliant). Most companies are currently striving to meet AA.
